DESCRIPTION
While stitching the course sampler, the student learns eight basic smocking stitches, as well as some combination stitches, accent stitches, and the stacked cable stitch used in picture smocking. The student will also learn how to read a graphed smocking design and how to center a design on a garment. The student will learn to use her new skills to smock and construct a girl's bishop dress in the size of her choice (1 - 12). Directions for every step of construction will be provided including blocking, hand rolled hems, French seams, and thread button loops. No previous smocking experience is necessary, although this course is also an excellent development tool for those who have already had a taste of smocking.
